The New Mexican Tourist Tax in Cancun (Visitax) Came Into Effect on April 1st 2021
All international visitors who want to travel to the state of Quintana Roo which includes Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum are required by law to pay the VISITAX. The VISITAX is a mandatory fee that is collected by the State of Quintana Roo to help fund local projects that improve tourism infrastructure, including new roads and public spaces. The VISITAX can be paid online at any time prior to departure and up until the day of departure. It is easy to do and takes only a few minutes. All you need is your passport number, your best email contact, and some basic personal information. Then you’ll be redirected to a secure payment page where you can make your VISITAX payment with a credit card.

Once your VISITAX payment is confirmed you will receive a QR code receipt to show at security at the airport before you board your flight. This receipt is also valid for the rest of your trip in the state of Quintana Roo.
