The 17th edition of the Asia Cup is all set to take place from September 9 to 28 in the United Arab Emirates. The tournament will feature eight teams – two more than the last edition. The five full members of the Asian Cricket Council – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka – will all participate in the competition along with United Arab Emirates, Oman and Hong Kong, which finished top three in 2024 ACC Men’s Premier Cup to qualify for this edition of the tournament. Nepal also made it to the tournament, making this one of the most diverse and exciting Asia Cups in recent times.

India and Pakistan, arch-rivals on the field, will be clubbed together in Group A alongside UAE and Oman while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan form Group B. This means that there could potentially be three India-Pakistan matches if the teams progress to the Super Four round and even the final.

 

The tournament will feature 19 matches in total – six in the group stage and seven in the Super Four round – with the top two teams from each going through to face each other in the final. The team that wins the final will be crowned champions.
